Jennie Lawless & Bogan Via: asembl (not so) live #23

Pre-Corona, discipline was needed to keep the concert habit consistent with solvency. So we've been hurting.

But now we're bringing the live show atmosphere to the internet.

Join us on Saturday, May 9 at 9 o'clock  (Eastern) for some of our indie pop favorites: Jennie Lawless & Bogan Via.

Here's the main page for the series where you can check out upcoming and past shows.

Or follow us on social media for the same:

Here's how it works:

  • Hit the "Join the interactive show" button or the "Join the livestream on YouTube" button (though that's much less fun) below at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 to join. You can RSVP and add to your calendar here or on Facebook.
  • Turn on your microphone and/or camera so we can hear cheer and feel together (also: behave).
  • Donate. We're not putting up a paywall since we want everyone to easily join but we'd appreciate your donating $5 (or more!). Everybody's gigs went poof so a bit of cash would be highly appreciated.

If that doesn't work for some weird reason, our PayPal account is: (

We also accept Venmo (, though they're weird about non-personal payments and so PayPal is better). Our account is @Stevan-Nicholas

More about the acts.

First up is Jennie Lawless.

Jennie Lawless is a songwriter / producer / artist based in Los Angeles. She grew up twenty miles northwest of Chicago and always makes a point of telling people she’s from the Chicago suburbs so she won’t upset any Chicagoans. This is a big deal there. Before moving to LA in 2019, she lived and performed in Minneapolis for seven years. After the mutual end of her duo Warehouse Eyes, she formed this solo project in a low-stakes effort to seek independence as a songwriter. Jennie writes playful songs driven by wonky synths, lush harmonies, and sincere lyrics. She thinks this is the most Jennie stuff she’s ever made.

Then, Bogan Via.

Every so often you get to encounter one of those rare genres of bands that feels both nostalgic and cutting edge, and Bogan Via is quite possibly the textbook example of such an experience.  With their 80's style melodies accompanied with their 60's era ethereal vocalizations, Bogan Via blends the best of the musical past with the intoxicating beats of current hip hop and indie bass lines.

When this is all over, you'll need to go out. And also re-introduce yourself to your friends. asembl makes doing both better. Check it out for all the best things going on and the easiest way to gather a group to do those things with.
